I’ve been interested in workload scheduling for ~13 years now.
I come at the topic from an HPC perspective, but as I continue to learn the space, I’ve become a fan of Google’s Kubernetes/Borg effort.
I recently had the opportunity to test drive Kubernetes using Rancher, a container management platform and write a few articles on the topic.
I’ve experimented with deployments from the major cloud providers, but Rancher makes this simple. I had a working environment in less than one hour given existing AWS credentials. I need to disclose that I’m working on Rancher projects presently, but no question in my mind – if you are looking for Kubernetes container management and wish to stay cloud vendor agnostic, Rancher is best in class.
