Gord Sissons, Principal Consultant
Gord Sissons is the principal at StoryTek, a consultancy that helps software companies accelerate sales through better technical marketing. He also works as an associate IT analyst at Cabot Partners.
Gord has 30 years of experience in IT with a background that includes product management, marketing, consulting and technical sales. Prior to founding StoryTek, Gord was a marketing manager at IBM responsible for InfoSphere BigInsights, IBM’s Hadoop offering, and IBM Platform Symphony, a high-performance grid middleware solution. He prides himself on being hands-on and staying close to the technology.
In 2000, Gord was Director of Technology at Sun Microsystems, responsible for pre-sales and consulting services in Canada. In 2004 he moved to Platform Computing in a similar role to pursue his interests in HPC and distributed computing managing a global consulting organization. He continues to maintain a strong association with Platform Computing (now IBM) to this day consulting to their product, marketing, and services organizations.
In 2006, Gord founded NeatWorx Web Solutions Inc. and developed a software-as-a-service offering for registration and payment tailored to owner-operated clubs and associations. NeatWorx was acquired by IVRNET of Calgary Alberta in 2012. Gord also worked part-time as a consultant to Vantiv, assisting with the development of Vantiv O.N.E., Vantiv’s developer relations program prior to Vantiv’s WorldPay acquisition.
Gord is a graduate of Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario with a degree in Systems and Computer Engineering graduating with high distinction.
